Job Opportunities with A Team Staffing

Are you ready to build the infrastructure that keeps our community running? We are looking for a hardworking, dependable Sewer & Drainage Laborer to join our field crew. This is a physically demanding role that requires grit, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety.

In this position, you will be on the front lines of underground utility installation, working with a team to lay pipe, manage water runoff, and ensure high-quality builds from the bottom up.

Key Responsibilities

As a specialized laborer, your daily tasks will focus on the precision and safety required for underground utility work:

  • Trench & Site Prep: Assisting with excavation, hand-shoveling to "soft dig" around existing utilities, and ensuring trenches are clear for pipe laying.
  • Pipe Installation: Handling, leveling, and connecting various pipes (PVC, RCP, Ductile Iron) for sanitary sewer, storm drains, and water mains.
  • Structure Assembly: Assisting in the setting of manholes, catch basins, and curb inlets.
  • Dewatering & Shoring: Setting up pumps to manage groundwater and assisting with the installation of trench boxes and shoring to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Backfill & Grading: Spreading bedding stone and lift-compacting soil using plate compactors or jumping jacks to ensure structural integrity.
  • General Support: Loading/unloading heavy materials and maintaining specialized tools like pipe lasers and quick-cut saws.

What We’re Looking For

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 30+ lbs, work in deep trenches, and remain active in all weather conditions (heat, rain, mud).
  • Safety Conscious: A firm understanding of (or willingness to learn) OSHA trench safety standards and "Call Before You Dig" protocols.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable using hand tools, power saws, and tamping equipment.
  • Reliability: You show up on time, every time. Construction depends on the full crew being present to start the day.
  • Experience: Previous experience in underground utilities, pipelaying, or heavy civil construction is a major plus.

Why Join Our Team?

  • Career Path: We value our laborers and provide the training needed to move up to Pipelayer, Equipment Operator, or Crew Lead.
  • Essential Work: Sewer and drainage infrastructure is always in demand, providing long-term job stability.
  • Team Environment: Work with an experienced crew that prioritizes getting the job done right and getting everyone home safely.
